Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 10, 2026

Etteilla ("we," "us," "our") is operated by Leonyx LLC. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Etteilla app, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We built Etteilla as a private journal for your own physical tarot practice — what you write is yours, and this policy exists to be specific about exactly where it goes.

1. Information we collect

Account information. Your email address, and a password or authentication token if you sign in that way. We do not require your real name.

Your reading content. The readings you log — dates, spreads, card names and positions, your own written reflections, notes, tags, and any photos you take of your physical card spreads. If you use the optional camera feature to identify cards from a photo, that photo is sent to our AI provider (see §3) to identify the cards, and is stored so you can view it later in your own journal.

Your own card meanings. If you choose to record what a card means to you personally ("Card Book"), we store that text under your account and use it only to personalize your own reflections and conversations — never anyone else's.

Usage and device data. App events (e.g. "a reading was saved," "a conversation was started") without their content — never your questions, reflections, or photos. See §3 for exactly what this covers. We also receive basic device/platform information (OS version, app version) needed to run the app and diagnose crashes.

Purchase information. If you subscribe to Etteilla Plus, our payment processor (RevenueCat) and the app store you purchased through (Apple or Google) handle your payment details directly — we never see or store your card number. We receive confirmation of your subscription status (active, trial, cancelled) so the app can unlock the right features.

Referral data. If you use "Give a moon" to invite someone, we store a referral code and whether it was redeemed, so we can credit both accounts.

2. How we use your information

What we never do: we never sell your data. We never use your reading content, reflections, or photos to train AI models. We never send your question text, reflection content, querent names, or photos to our analytics provider. We never show your card pulls to anyone reading for you without your explicit choice to share them.

3. Who we share information with

We use a small number of service providers to run Etteilla. Each only receives what it needs to do its specific job:

ProviderWhat it's used forWhat it receives
SupabaseDatabase, authentication, file storageYour account and reading data, encrypted at rest
Anthropic (Claude)AI reflections, conversations, and photo card‑identificationThe specific reading/question/photo you're asking about, at the moment you ask
RevenueCatSubscription and entitlement managementYour purchase/subscription status
Apple / GoogleApp distribution, in‑app purchase processingPayment details (we never see these), device identifiers required by the platform
MixpanelProduct analyticsTyped usage events only — never reflection content, question text, querent names, or photos
LoopsTransactional and marketing emailYour email address, and whether you've opted into marketing email

We do not share your information with data brokers or advertisers, and we do not run advertising in Etteilla.

4. Data retention and deletion

Your data stays in your account for as long as you keep it. You can delete individual readings at any time from within the app.

You can delete your entire account at any time from Profile → Delete account. Doing so permanently removes your readings, reflections, notes, Card Book entries, and photos; removes your subscriber record from our payment processor (RevenueCat); and removes you from our marketing email list. Some providers (for example, transaction records Apple, Google, or our payment processor keep for tax and fraud-prevention purposes) may retain minimal records as required by law or their own retention policies; contact us if you'd like help requesting removal from those providers directly.

5. Your rights and choices

If you're in the EU/UK, California, or another jurisdiction with specific data protection rights (GDPR, CCPA, or similar), those rights apply to you as described above, and you can reach us at the contact below with any additional request.

6. Children's privacy

Etteilla is not directed at children, and you must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from children under that age.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and row-level database security scoped to each individual account — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously given how personal a tarot journal is.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to this policy, we'll notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.

9. Contact
