These terms govern your use of Etteilla, an app made by Leonyx LLC ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Etteilla.
Etteilla is a journaling app for people who read tarot with their own physical deck. The app never draws, shuffles, or generates a card for you — every card in your journal was pulled by you, by hand. Etteilla's job is to help you log, search, and reflect on readings you've already done.
Etteilla includes an AI feature ("Etteilla" the conversational voice, and optional AI-assisted card identification from a photo). This is a reflective tool, not an oracle: it works from what you've written and logged, asks questions back, and never asserts what a card "means." AI output is not professional advice of any kind — see §6.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Etteilla. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. Provide accurate information when you sign up.
Everything you write, photograph, or log in Etteilla — your readings, reflections, notes, and card meanings — is yours. We don't claim ownership of it. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display it back to you (and, where you explicitly choose to send content to our AI provider to generate a reflection or identify cards from a photo) solely to provide the app's features to you. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not share it with anyone except as described in our Privacy Policy.
You're responsible for what you log. Don't use Etteilla to store or share anything illegal, anything that violates someone else's rights, or anything meant to harass or harm another person.
Etteilla's AI reflections and conversations are a reflective tool built from your own words and card pulls. They are not medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice, and are not a substitute for a professional when you need one. They do not predict the future. If you are in crisis or experiencing thoughts of self-harm, please reach out to a mental health professional or a crisis line in your area — Etteilla is not equipped for that, and says so if it comes up in a conversation.
AI responses are generated using a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) based on what you've written; they can be imperfect, and you're always the one deciding what a card means to you.
If you use the camera feature to identify cards from a photo of your physical spread, the AI's proposed identification is never trusted automatically — you always confirm or correct it before anything is saved to your journal. Card orientation (upright/reversed) detected from a photo is unreliable by design; your confirmation is the source of truth.
Don't: reverse-engineer or scrape the app; attempt to access another user's data; use the app to distribute malware or spam; use automated means to create accounts or extract data at scale; or resell access to the app or its AI features.
Etteilla's name, logo, design, and app code are owned by Leonyx LLC. Except for the license to your own content described in §4, nothing in these terms transfers any of our intellectual property to you.
Rider–Waite–Smith card imagery included in the app is in the public domain in the United States. Other decks referenced in the app are text-only unless you've photographed your own physical cards.
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account, which permanently removes your content (see our Privacy Policy for specifics). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Etteilla is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate or suitable for your purposes. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Leonyx LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material, we'll notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Etteilla after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Leonyx LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
